Antique reproduction frontier style bread boxes offered to you by Cold Creek Furniture Company. Place one of these bread boxes in your home and let it take you back to a time when life was simpler. Your bread box will become an interesting conversational piece and will be practical for storage. Please click on the customer testimonials link. You will see that we routinely exceed our customers expectations.

Original bread boxes of this type were used by pioneer settlers beginning around 1810, east of the Mississippi, staying with folks as they made their way west. These bread boxes were especially popular in the Dakotas’ and Kansas where they were referred to as ‘biscuit boxes’.

Original punched patterns ranged from random punching and simple designs to the more ornate patterns such as our diamond pattern. In practical use on the frontier, the original bread boxes left the sharp punched holes to the outside for insect control. Our bread boxes have the smooth punched holes to the outside for safety, appearance, and ease of cleaning.

We bench-build and finish these bread boxes in our Wisconsin shop using native solid hardwood. They are smoothly finished with strong, neat joinery, yet are finished and shaped to represent the work and tooling of a country craftsman of the late 18th century. They are individually unique. These wooden and tin punched bread boxes are finished to complement many styles of home decor, including primitive, country, colonial, western, vintage, cottage, rustic, and lodge.

The bread box has 2 coats of paint under a coat of clear, flat lacquer. The tin panel is coated with  a clear, flat lacquer. This produces a finish that is easy to clean yet retains the look of an aged antique.

 • All joints are glued and nailed with no exposed nail holes.

 • The door frame is lap jointed for strength.

 • The hinges are solid antiqued brass.

Our guarantee: 100% money back if you are not completely satisfied.
