 Shown here is a custom Colonial fireplace. The fireplace unit is a 42" Heat-N-Glo woodburning unit. The tiled face is Black Stone Porcelain with black grout. The tile is backed with 1/2" Durock cement panel, and cohered to it with a commercial grade of plasticized mortar. This combination of materials provides crack resistence and fireproofing exceeding the requirements of the Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code.
 The mantle and wood surround with moldings started out in our shop as rough sawn 4/4 kiln dried clear old growth Northern White Pine lumber. All joints and build-ups are glued with Titebond Professional Wood Glue. This assembly will not shrink or warp over time as it goes through the normal temperature fluctuations near the fireplace.
The finish is stain block primered under 3 coats of Porter Advantage 900 Latex Enamel paint. Contact us if you know you won't be happy with a mass produced pre-built fireplace surround for your wood or gas fireplace. | |
