The work began by selecting rough sawn oak dried to a 6% moisture content.( Architectural guidelines allow for a finish hardwood moisture content between 6 & 10%.) The clear wood was planed to thickness and milled in our shop. The treads are 1 1/16" solid Oak, wedged and structurally glued to the Select Structural Fir stair stringers. Weldwood Plastic Rezin Glue was used on all structural joining, including the laminated balluster rails. The finish is Fabulon Polyurethane Wood Floor Satin Finish. 3 coats were brushed on. Do you need a staircase designed and built? Contact us. Paneling The ceiling paneling shown here is a combination of Red Oak, Black Oak, and White Ash. It is stained to bring out the figured grain, and finished with spray lacquer for a hand rubbed look. This hardwood was milled from an economical grade of lumber, but we like it because it provides a natural comfort while the wild grains and knots show an interesting look. We can provide any species in any grade of solid wood paneling, and we know how to install it for eye-catching appeal.
